John Leonard Farris
John Leonard Farris, 79, of Buda, passed away March 15, 2013 at Provident Memory Home. He was born Jan. 16, 1934 to Odessa and Agnes (Mayes) Farris in Wimberley.
John lived most of his life in Wimberley and Austin. He joined the Army and was based at Fort Sill, Okla. He was a barber in Austin for more than 50 years and enjoyed his career; however, he especially liked socializing with his customers and coworkers. John loved to hunt, and for a while made several expeditions to Wyoming and Idaho. He crafted his own guns and made many exotic wood rifle stocks. John also loved feeding and watching birds in his backyard.
John is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-laws, Carolyn and David Settle of Austin and Sharron and Edward Roberts of Princeton; grandchildren Parks and Madison Settle of Austin; brother and sister-in-law Kenneth and Judith Farris of Dallas; nephew and wife Shane and Linda Farris of Carrollton; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family would like to thank Provident Memory Care Center of Buda and Grace Hospice of Austin for all their wonderful care.

Graveside services will be held today at 1 p.m. in the Wimberley Cemetery, Wimberley.
