Curtis Walker of Austin has been showing his 2003 Hummer H-2 for around three years. He won best Street Custom, and attends more than 60 car shows a year. The Hummer took him around nine months to customize and features a multitude of extras including an aquarium and 17 televisions.
Luling resident Cotton Etheredge won Best Truck with his 1952 Chevy Pickup. Etheredge said he shows his truck every weekend.
Richard Simon from Lockhart enjoyed the car show with his daughter Amber Johnson from San Marcos. Simon won best Street Ride with his ’32 Ford Coupe that he’s had since September. Simon said he loves to ride the car around town all the time.
The event featured live music all day, keeping barbeque fans happy in the hot weather.
Hays Co. BBQ owner Michael Hernandez said that both the inside and outside seating areas of the restaurant had been packed since opening on the Fourth of July.
Joe Pacheco of New Braunfels won Best in Show with his ’67 Camaro Super Sport. Pacheco has owned his vehicle since 2000, and has been showing it for around 11 years.

The car show put on by Coches de la Muerte at Hays Co. Bar-B-Que and Catering in San Marcos may just turn into an annual event.
For their first year, the show had 31 registered cars ranging from hot rods to decked-out trucks lined up in the restaurant’s backyard.
