After serving as principal at San Marcos High school for seven years, Principal Michelle Darling is retiring after the 2013-14 school year. Darling plans on going back to work right away, "I might just be a Wal-Mart or Sam’s greeter," she said.
Darling has been an educator for 28 years, but has been principal for 19 years. She was an elementary school principal for eight years, a middle school principal for four years and a high school principal for seven years.
"Being principal has had a huge positive impact on my life mostly because of the students and teachers,” Darling said. “Each one of them has changed me."
Darling is retiring because she feels like it's time to share the opportunity of being principal with someone new.
