Traffic update for June 1-7

 

Projects affecting San Marcos traffic for week of June 1-7.
NORTH LBJ AT SESSOM: Reconstruction project for street, sidewalk, drainage, water and wastewater improvements will take place until August 2014. The traffic on Sessom will be reduced to one lane in each direction at N.LBJ while construction occurs in this area. The entry to Texas State University from Sessom at LBJ will be reduced to one way traffic into campus during the construction.  Engineering/Capital Improvements, (512) 393-8130.
CHEATHAM/RIVERSIDE: Drainage improvements at Cheatham and Riverside through June 30, 2014. Cheatham Street has reopened; Riverside remains closed from the I-35 access road to the entrance at Rio Vista Park. Smith Contracting, (512) 990-7640.
CHARLES AUSTIN DR: All lanes closed both directions between Jowers access and Aquarena Springs Drive for the following high school graduation ceremonies:  New Braunfels and Wimberley High School from 5 p.m. on May 29 to 12 noon on May 30; Hays, Lehman Del Valle and San Marcos HS from June 4 at 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. on June 6, 2014; Canyon, Smithson Valley and Canyon Lake HS from June 7 at 7 a.m. to 9 pm.  Access to City Park will be available from Hopkins Street. RIVER RD: Slurry seal project June 5-7, 2014 from HWY 80 to Wal-Mart entrance. Street closures will be intermittent with approximately 30 minute intervals between streets. Park vehicles off the street or they may be towed at owners’ expense. Use caution in work zones and obey traffic control flaggers. City of San Marcos Transportation Dept., (512) 393-8036.
RIVER RIDGE BUSINESS PARK:  Slurry seal project June 2-7, 2014. Streets to be sealed are: Hernandez Way, Carlson Circle, Market Blvd and River Ridge Pkwy. Street closures will be intermittent with approximately 30 minute intervals between streets. Park vehicles off the street, or they may be towed at owners’ expense. ROOSEVELT AND MACARTHUR: All lanes in both directions will be closed for replacing a sewer service line on June 3, 2014 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. City of San Marcos Water Wastewater Dept., (512) 393-8010.
 EAST SAN ANTONIO STREET: Every Saturday from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.  Half a block of street closed from the alley to N. LBJ for the Farmers Market on the Square. Main Street Program, (512) 393-8430.
PERMANENT 
CLOSURE:
NORTH LBJ FROM WOODS ST TO BOBCAT TRAIL; BOBCAT TRAIL FROM N LBJ TO EDWARD GARY; EDWARD GARY FROM BOBCAT TRAIL TO WOODS ST: Streets will be converted into a Campus Pedestrian Mall. Construction for the project will last until December 2015. Emergency vehicles will be able to enter onto campus at the new gates that will be installed along Wood Street.
