Norman Edward Fuschak
Norman Edward Fuschak of San Marcos, beloved father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on July 24, at the age of 87. He left his earthly bonds after a five year struggle with congestive heart failure. During his prolonged illness Norman always remained cheerful.
Norman was born on March 4, 1927 in Curtain, Texas to Antone and Gussie Fuschak. He served his country in the United States Coast Guard from 1944–1948. In 1951 he married Bonnie Ruth Neeley and was married for 53 years. They were blessed with four children.
In 1963 Norman moved his family to San Marcos. Employed by Frito Lay for 25 years, he lovingly became known as “the frito man.” In 1966 he and Bonnie purchased “The Pit,” where she was employed as a waitress.
Norman was an avid lover of fishing, hunting, and the outdoors. He was also an accomplished master gardener and had bountiful vegetable gardens every year.
He leaves behind his loving family: daughter Shirley and husband Keith Scroggins of San Marcos; son Morgan and wife Phyllis of San Marcos; son Van and wife Suanne of San Antonio; and son Danny and wife Bridget of San Marcos; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He will be remembered for his friendly smile, engaging stories, and for “never meeting a stranger.” He was loved by many.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday evening, July 27, at Pennington Funeral Home in San Marcos. The service will be 11 a.m., Monday, July 28, in the Pennington Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Bill Glasgow officiating. Interment to follow at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale.
