A treat to catch bass on Lady Bird Lake with Whited
By JIM DARNELL
Where is the best lake to catch a lunker bass within one hour of San Marcos? Well, three lakes top the list: Lake Austin, Lady Bird Lake (formerly Town Lake) and Lake Dunlap.
You probably won’t catch a bass to top the 22-pound, four-ounce world record caught by George Perry in 1932 — but you will have a good shot at a double-digit fish.
While bass fishing on Lady Bird Lake in Austin last week I asked my guide, Charles Whited, what lake near San Marcos was the best for big bass.
