Deep in dog-days of drought-spent August is a San Marcos garden still prolific with blooms at the home of John and Velma Hasty, 588 Crest Circle Drive, Spring Lake Garden Club's Yard of the Month.
It is Velma Hasty, a Hays County Master Gardener, who plans, digs and grooms the acreage that includes a profusion of ornamental flowers, varieties of shrubs, vines, bulbs and 55 rose bushes, most of which are officially antique roses. Lots of trees are also maintained on the property, including productive fruit trees.
