Free VIN etching will be offered on Thursday

In conjunction with Auto Theft Prevention month, which is July, the Auto Theft Task Force, which includes investigators from several Central Texas Law Enforcement Agencies, including Hays County, will conduct a VIN etching on Thursday, July 10 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event will take place at the South Hays Fire Departments Ranch Road 12 location, which is located on RR12 just east of the junction of RR12 and FM32 near

Wimberley.

The etching is done free of charge and in some cases will reduce auto insurance costs as well as making etched glass harder to sell in the case of an auto theft.
