Support Maxwell Volunteer firefighters

From the Maxwell Volunteer Fire Department:
It is time for the Maxwell Fire Department’s fundraiser BARBECUE AND AUCTION to be held OCTOBER 18, 2008 at the Maxwell Social Club. This is our main means of raising funds for the entire year. We need your support and help to be better able to serve you in case of a fire on your property. Your generous support is greatly appreciated and will insure that funds are available to meet the needs of the community and enable the fire department to be there when you need our help.
This past year has been a busy year with many fires and accidents. One of our largest expenses is still the fuel that it takes to run the large fire trucks. We have worked hard getting grants for newer fire trucks and have purchased a new 2007 Kenworth 3000 gallon TANKER PUMPER TRUCK and a 2008 Kenworth PUMPER that carries 1500 gallons of water, most of the cost was covered by grants but we still have to come up with the matching funds. The total amount of grants for the two trucks was $332,500, the matching funds are $49,500. Our Community is very fortunate to have the new fire trucks and we will all have to work hard to pay off the matching funds.
PLEASE HELP WITH YOUR TIME AND MONEY DONATIONS. COME OUT OCTOBER 18, 2008 AT 4 P.M. AND SUPPORT THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AT OUR FUNDRAISER. IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO ATTEND PLEASE SEND A DONATION SO THAT WE WILL BE ABLE TO CONTINUE TO PROVIDE FIRE PROTECTION DURING THIS NEXT YEAR.
Some of the ways you can support the fire department is to DONATE NEW ITEMS FOR THE AUCTION, BAKE A CAKE OR HOMEMADE ITEMS, we also need homemade potato salad, Spanish rice, cakes, pies or cookies for dessert. WE NEED YOUR HELP. Please volunteer to work in the kitchen, or with the auction. Come join in the fun and get to know your neighbors. You may call any fireman to meet you and pick up your auctions items.

The Maxwell Fire Department is always in need of NEW VOLUNTEER FIRE FIGHTERS and we invite anyone that interested to call one of the fireman above or come to our meetings that are held the first and third Wednesdays of each month, time 7:30 p.m., location MVFD building on State Hwy. 142 in Maxwell. The third Wednesday meeting will change at times because we are using a certified instructor, so please check the new sign out front of the station for the correct date. EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO JOIN.
PLEASE REMEMBER AND SUPPORT THE MAXWELL COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT’S BARBECUE AND AUCTION THAT WILL BE HELD ON SATURDAY OCTOBER 18, 2008 AT THE MAXWELL SOCIAL CLUB, FOURTH STREET, MAXWELL.
Serving will start at 4 p.m. Barbecue Plates $6.00 for adults and $4.00 for children under 12. Plates to go will be available. Meal tickets may be purchased in advance from all volunteer firepersons or at the door when you arrive. The auction will start between 5:30 and 6 p.m.
