New Class of CASA Volunteers

The latest class of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) was sworn in recently by Judge Karin Bonicoro. The volunteers will soon be assigned to children who have been removed from their homes because of abuse and neglect and are now placed in the court system, program officials said. As advocates, the volunteers will get to know everyone in the children’s lives and speak up for them in court, advocating for their best interest. Another training is starting soon. Those who would like to make a difference in the life of a child may contact training coordinator Debbie Haynes at 392-3578 or visit www.casacentex.org. Pictured are David Kaufmann of Comal County, Mari Garza of Hays County, Donna Holmes of Comal County, Rebecca Sheffield of Comal County, Judge Karin Bonicoro, CASA intern Elizabeth Kanode and Pam McAfee of Hays County.
