The city of San Marcos will host the sixth annual Texas Parent to Parent statewide conference June 25 at the Embassy Suites. More than 500 participants are expected. Created by parents of children with special needs or chronic illnesses, Texas Parent to Parent is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing information and support for families of children with prolonged illnesses, disabilities, and other special health needs. According to executive director Laura Warren, “For some families, [the conference] is their first opportunity to meet another family with a child like theirs. Being with other families who don't flinch when you feed your child through a g-tube at the 'Family Gathering' dinner is like coming home. Our kids fit in here. They are not excluded from anything. So the parents are comfortable and want to come back over and over.” For more information, visit www.txp2p.org.
