A record 502 people attending Central Texas Medical Center’s 17th annual Stars of Texas Gala Sunday night for an evening of gourmet dining, a silent auction and entertainment by country artist Lee Ann Womack. including her Grammy-winning hit, “I Hope You Dance.” KVUE’s Melissa Gale emceed the event, which honored the women of CTMC’s medical staff and helped raise funds for CTMC’s new Women’s Center. “We are very fortunate to be a part of such a supportive and engaged community,” Gary Jepson, president and CEO, said. “Despite difficult economic times, our sponsors and guests were still very generous. On behalf of all those the new Women’s Center will serve, I cannot thank them enough for their contributions.” The gala raised $145,000 to benefit CTMC’s new Women’s Center, opening late November as a part of the hospital’s $35 million expansion project. The 64,000-square-foot addition will include a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and a new cardiac telemetry inpatient nursing unit.
