San Marcos Firefighter Mark Bomar accepts the “Firefighter of the Year” medal and award from Lou Colantoni of the Sons of the American Revolution, William Hightower Chapter #35 in New Braunfels. Mark and his wife Ashleigh are residents of Driftwood. “He leads by example, involving his fellow firefighters in physical fitness, weight lifting and healthy eating. He is a driving force behind his shift’s increased level of physical fitness. He is a positive motivator, encouraging his piers to learn leadership skills by reporting on books he is reading,” Assistant Fire Chief Len Nored said. Mark’s fellow firefighters elected him Firefighter of the Year 2008.
