Pluckers No. 1 place to drink

Pluckers Wing Bar had the highest estimated gross alcohol sales in the city of San Marcos during the month of April. These numbers are estimated from the Mixed Beverage Tax.
Once a month, businesses that sell alcohol are required to pay a 14-percent tax on the alcoholic drinks sold. The tax is based off of the gross receipts reported by each business.

Col. Richard J. ‘Dick’ Wieland

Col. Richard J. “Dick” Wieland, USAF, Ret., 83, of Lockhart, passed away on June 9, 2013. Visitation was Wednesday, June 12, at McCurdy Funeral Home. Services were Thursday, June 13, at First United Methodist Church, Lockhart. Interment followed at Lockhart City Cemetery.

William Bertrand Hasselmeier, Jr.

Andrea L. Ovalle

Andrea L. Ovalle, resident of San Marcos, was received in the hands of our Heavenly Father on June 9, 2013 at the age of 76 years. Born Nov. 30, 1936 in San Antonio. A beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, she has been reunited in Heaven with open arms by her loving husband of 56 years David G. Ovalle; son David O. Ovalle Jr.; parents Jose Merced and Encarnacio Lara; and brothers Ignacio "Ike" and Jose Merced Lara Jr. Andrea was such a loving person who showed her warmth and kindness through caring for others.

A Word About Recycling - June 16, 2013

A recent Resource Recycling eNewletter article was titled: “Study finds
messaging matters when it comes to recycling,” and we totally agree.
That is the primary reason, as concerned citizens, Gloria and I try to
promote it though these weekly items in a language most can understand
and agree with.
While we have no test on our effort’s effectiveness, we are hoping by emails
received and comments received in person, they are helping.

that tailoring messages about recycling to one’s political beliefs helps gain
