It took two years and countless casting calls, but after being cut just before season seven, Wimberley resident Abby Vasek was invited back to the semi-finals and was chosen as one of 10 contestants on HGTV’s eighth season of Design Star — with a new name this time around, HGTV Star.

“I was just hoping for it to drop, so we could go home and eat,” Smith said. “I got a fastball down the middle and I tried to take advantage of it.”

In the name of protecting us from hackers, computer viruses and cyber-terrorists, the House of Representatives has passed a bill that would make it easier for sites like Facebook and Twitter and Internet service providers like Comcast and Time-Warner to share users’ private messages and files with government agencies.

Water Plan: Why more and not less?

Editor,
The billions being spent on the Texas Water Plan is all about taking water from one community and piping it (or dammming it up) and giving it to other, more “preferred” communities.

Soldier stress and excessive taxes

Editor,
I haven’t read or heard the Pentagon’s 2013 statistics, but at the end of 2012 it reported that more uniformed U.S. soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan committed suicide than were killed by their opponents. What does that tell you about moral and belief in the cause?

New substation in Wimberley

When residents in the Wimberley area need help, it’s going to be a little bit quicker getting there.
The newly-renovated Wimberley Substation of the Hays County Sheriff’s Office is now open in the Y Center at 14306 Ranch Road 12. It shares space with Pct. 3 Commissioner Will Conley’s office and is located adjacent to the offices of Justice of the Peace Andrew Cable and Constable Darryl Ayers.
The facility replaces the former office that was located in Lyons Field in the Market Days Center.
