Janette Mabel Guidry

Janette Mabel Guidry was born in Port Arthur on 29 Dec. 29, 1923, the daughter of William (Bill) Karl Snoek and Flora Bell Freeman. As the fifth child in a growing family, she eventually was to have three sisters and four brothers.
She is survived by two sons, Edmund Vaughn Guidry III and Wayne Arlan Guidry and his wife Kathleen and their daughter Samantha; and three brothers Theodore (Ted) Snoek and his wife Effie, Charles Snoek, and Robert (Bob) Snoek and his wife Peggy.

Donna U. Reeder

A baby girl was born on November 14, 1933 at the Salvation Army Home for Unwed Mothers in Louisville, Ky. She was chosen to be adopted by a special single mother, Mary Belle Moseley who named her Donna Rene. Several years later Mary B. Moseley wed William John Underwood, who also chose to adopt Donna, so a special family was created.
Donna Rene Underwood Reeder died April 23, 2013 in San Marcos. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary B and William J. Underwood and her son William Robert Penick.

Corporate Challenge - Softball

Softball was the fourth of the 10 scheduled Corporate Challenge tournaments, with 12 teams participating in Division I and II competitions. Current standings after four events are, Division I: 1. city of San Marcos, 2. CFAN, 3. Philips, 4. Gary Job Corps, 5. Chick-Fil-A, 6. UTC Aerospace and 7. CenturyLink. Division II: 1. CFAN, 2. UTC Aerospace, 3. CenturyLink, 4. Mensor, 5. Thermon, 6. Philips, 7. PTRC, 8. Gary Job Corps, 9. and city of San Marcos. The next scheduled event will be a horseshoe tournament which will be held at the River Ridge Park (next to Butler Manufacturing) on April 28.

Hanson nominated as LifeChanger

SMCISD Orchestra Director  Christopher Hanson has been nominated for the LifeChanger of the Year Award. The program, sponsored by the National Life Group, recognizes and rewards school district employees who “exemplify excellence, positive influence, and leadership.”
Ten honorees from across the nation will be honored annually and awarded with personal cash prizes and school donations.

’Cats leave no doubt in win over A&M

When Texas State last hosted Texas A&M back on March 30, 2010, Ty Harrington’s team used extra innings and a game-winning hit to knock off the Aggies.

On Tuesday, the Bobcats didn’t need either.

Behind a solid night at the plate by the bottom half of the lineup and a five-pronged pitching attack, Texas State dealt Texas A&M a 4-1 loss in front of the third-largest crowd in Bobcat Ballpark history. It was the Bobcats’ 10th consecutive win at home.
