Bill would enable a generation of ‘lifesavers’

Dear Editor:
If a family member, neighbor, or someone in the grocery store collapsed of sudden cardiac arrest, would you know what to do? Of the nearly 400,000 people that suffer sudden cardiac arrest outside of a hospital each year, the vast majority do not receive bystander CPR and less than 11 percent survive.

College Baseball: Bobcats blast DBU, play error-free ball

Dallas Baptist seemed content pumping Texas State fastballs last weekend. Even though the Bobcats worked a bunch of hitters’ counts, the Patriots must have read an incorrect scouting report that said Ty Harrington’s team couldn’t hit high heat.

Texas State didn’t complain. Harrington’s bunch just made DBU pay, especially last Saturday.

Civilians, officers lauded at annual SMPD ceremony

At the San Marcos Police Awards Ceremony three life saving awards were given out to six officers two of which happened just two days apart in August of last year.

Gonzales gets 58 years for sex crimes

A San Marcos man convicted of sex crimes against children will be 99 years when he is released from jail.

Texas Natural Festival, Western Swing Hall of Fame Concert set for Saturday

Downtown San Marcos will be alive with music, arts, the Farmer’s Market, food booths and the monthly Downtown Sidewalk Sale this Saturday, May 18 around the Courthouse Square.
Main Street’s Texas Natural Festival and the 26th annual Texas Western Swing Hall of Fame concert is on tap all day and evening Saturday. The Farmer’s Market will be held on San Antonio Street on the south side of the courthouse from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Participating downtown stores and shops will hold special sidewalk sales around the construction zone on N. LBJ and Hutchison Streets.

Gonzales teacher arrested for child porn possession

A seventh-grade science teacher in the Gonzales ISD is among persons recently arrested by the attorney general’s Cyber Crimes Unit.
