Friday morning a Bulverde Police car sped through San Marcos, north and south on IH-35.
According to police, it was stolen, and the driver, Jerry Paul Stovall III, had kidnapped his ex-girlfriend and was holding a .40 caliber pistol.

Alcohol sales in San Marcos rebounded in October after a somewhat slow September.
With five fewer businesses reporting sales numbers in October compared to September, estimated sales are up $127,000. It is not required that sales are reported immediately, though most businesses do, meaning October numbers will climb once all have reported.
Located in the heart of Texas, a group of media-makers are in the midst of a project dedicated to tackling the lack of attention paid towards the increasingly diverse set of cultures that are rooting themselves into this region.
ITAL (Intercultural Transmedia Approach to Learning), as the project is known as, has been attempting to change perceptions for the past year and half through the production of high-quality media tools — documentaries, educational videos, fictional films and events.
Healogics, the management company that Central Texas Medical Center (CTMC) contracts its Institute for Advanced Wound Healing through, recently presented CTMC’s wound care staff with the Together Everyone Achieves More (TEAM) award.
“The staff was nominated due to their excellent teamwork, dedication to outstanding patient care and great customer service,” said Glenda Ainsworth, program director for the CTMC Institute for Advanced Wound Healing.
The CTMC wound care team will receive a plaque and a catered lunch as a reward for their outstanding performance.
Math Explorations, a middle school math curriculum authored by four members of Texas State University math faculty, has achieved state adoption status through the Texas Education Agency (TEA).

LOCKHART — In the spirit of an 1850 Victorian Christmas, “Dickens’ Spirits & Arts” — a Friends of the Brock Cabin holiday benefit — will certainly put you in the holiday spirit. While audiences revel in performances of “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,” the Wimberley Players’ final show for 2013, season tickets are now on sale for the upcoming season.
“We spend many hours reading and considering plays,” artistic director John Hood said. “Our goal is to provide a balanced season of shows that all represent quality entertainment for our patrons.”
A readers committee and the artistic team consider the selections before recommending to the board of directors for approval.
