Motorcyclist dies after IH-35 crash

A 41-year old Corpus Christi man has died after suffering critical injuries in a one vehicle motorcycle wreck near the 202 mile marker on

IH-35 Saturday around 4:30 p.m.

Alvin Byrd died Monday morning about 9:30 a.m. after being transported Saturday by helicopter to Brackenridge Hospital in Austin.

According to police, Byrd was traveling south on IH-35 in the far right lane and lost control near the 202 mile marker, possibly when vehicles

ahead of him began braking, investigators said.

Byrd was not wearing a helmet and suffered severe head injuries. The accident is being investigated by the Collision Investigation Team.
