Throughout summer conditioning, Texas State head coach Dennis Franchione heard first-hand reports of how his team progressed through Blake Cundiff, the programs strength and conditioning coach. Franchione wasnt allowed to meet with his team in the summer due to NCAA regulations, nor were other members of his immediate coaching staff.
Even though the Bobcats were dedicated to getting bigger and stronger, Cundiff told Franchione the teams mentality changed as August neared.
Blake kept saying theyre tired of lifting weights and they were ready to practice, Franchione said Monday night following Texas States first fall practice. I think it was really true. They practiced that way. The older guys led that way. There was a genuine urge to get back on the field as a team.
