— Get counted! It's that time again. The 2010 Census is coming, so be watching your mailbox in mid-March and be counted. It is composed of 10 questions that take 10 minutes that will make a difference for 10 years.
Why does it matter? It is crucial to you and our entire San Marcos community because:
• It can increase grants and aid for scholarly research.
• It boosts economic development opportunities in San Marcos, which means local jobs for San Marcos residents.
• It can boost federal funding to improve transportation, health and other services.
• It may increase our representation in Congress.
What can you do now? Encourage your employees, co-workers, friends, neighbors and family to take part in the official 2010 Census count so our city can receive the benefits it deserves.
Is it difficult? The U.S. government is committed to the Census project and will work tirelessly to try and ensure that as many forms as possible get filled out. But you can help save enormous amounts of time and money (your taxpayer dollars) by filling your census form out promptly and returning it. A lot of effort has gone into this year's form to make it simpler and easier to complete.
Who is working on this effort locally? The city of San Marcos, Texas State University and many non-profit organizations in our community are working together to get out the word and promote the 2010 Census.
Ten questions, for 10 minutes, for 10 years: The U.S. Census. It's easier now than ever to complete.
And more important, now than ever, for our community. Please urge your family, friends, neighbors, co-workers and employees to fill out their census forms promptly.
It's just the right thing to do.
The San Marcos Chamber of Commerce is focused on business. Focused on you.

What will Heaven be like? This age-old question has been answered in many ways. Heaven has been made the butt of thousands of jokes. These usually begin with three people approaching those pearly gates and having a conversation with Peter, the apostle and holder of the keys to the blessed land.
