Alfredo P. Garza
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28
Alfredo P. Garza was freed from his decade-long bout with cancer and met his savior Jesus Christ on Feb. 3, 2013.
Born on Nov. 20, 1949, Freddie grew up in Raymondville before serving in the military from 1968-1971. He later met and married Abby, his wife of 41 years and mother to his two daughters.
Fred went to work for the Federal Bureau of Prisons where he worked for 24 years at seven federal correctional institutions, making numerous life-long friends along the way. Fred served his country and his family, but first and foremost he was a follower of Christ, who took every opportunity to tell everyone that he encountered the Good News of Jesus, up until his final days.
He is now reunited with his father Manuel Garza, father-in-law Genaro Robles and his sister Juanita Cisneros, and he awaits the eternal reunion of his wife Abby and his mother Virginia Garza.
Fred is also survived by daughters Connie Herrera of Lockhart, and Belinda Flores and husband Arturo of Little Elm; sisters Elena San Miguel and husband Pete of Raymondville, Elida Sosa and husband Dan of Corpus Christi, Estella Rejino and husband Ben of Friona and Sofia Villarreal and husband Richard of San Antonio; six grandchildren, Brisa Herrera, Marcos Flores, Carlos Herrera, Lia Pina, Karina Flores and Bianca Flores; as well as his beloved dog Sterling.
