Bobcats to hold draft for spring game
When players select sides for the annual spring game, there is rhyme and reason — sometimes neither.
“Some guys get a depth chart, study it and come prepared,” Texas State head coach Dennis Franchione said. “Some of them come in and fly by the seat of their pants. It’s always interesting to see the strategy and who gets picked first, second, third and all those kinds of things.”
No matter what happens, this afternoon’s draft won’t be a popularity contest.
“They want to win,” Franchione said. “Maybe when you get down to the 50th pick or something like that, but for the most part, this is a respect contest.
“They’re going to pick who they respect and who they think can help them win. In my experiences, that always takes precedence over their friends. If need be, they want to kick their friends’ tails.”
