Burkepile to perform ‘United We Sing’
At the age of 15, San Marcos’ Aviana Burkepile is a veteran performer and quadruple threat as a vocalist, pianist, dancer and actor.
The Hill Country Christian School sophomore has a passion for the stage having appeared in “West Side Story,” “Phantom of the Opera,” “Annie,” “Anything Goes,” “The King and I,” “The Night Before Christmas” and “Beauty and The Beast.”
On Sunday, she will be one of many performers at the free “United We Sing” show, which is scheduled for Sunday at 3 p.m. at Texas State University’s Evans Auditorium.
Aviana has been recognized for her talent and potential: winner of the 2012 San Marcos Has Talent competition, selected to participate in the 2013 American High School Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall last February and was a special guest performer at The Lee Colee’ and Kirk Griffith New Year’s Eve concert/benefit for Wounded Worriers.
In April Aviana competed at the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools’ state competition, receiving high ratings for her vocal and piano solos. She also serves as her church pianist and enjoys playing the drums, hiking, volleyball and tap dancing.
Aviana is excited and honored to be involved with “United We Sing” and will be joining other performers and area residents as part of the Community Chorus.
All singers, male and female, are invited to join Aviana and the rest of the singers to be part of the always popular and inspiring Community Chorus. The ensemble will rehearse Thursday 7:30 to 8:15 p.m. in room 222 of the Texas State Music Building, at the corner of Sessom and North LBJ. Church choir members, high school and college singers, garage bands, air guitarists, soloists and great shower singers are all asked to come join the Community Chorus and the musical salute to the U.S.A.
“United We Sing” is a joint presentation of the Heart of Texas Chorus and the Texas State University College of Fine Arts and Communications. For Additional information, go to the Heart of Texas Chorus web site, www.hotchorus.org, and click on the UWS menu item.
