CDC students plant a tree in memory of custodian David Perez
The youngsters at the San Marcos CISD Child Development Center took up shovels to show their love for their custodian David Perez, who died in November 2012 of cancer.
The infants, toddlers and Pre-K students loved the quiet man who smiled and greeted them every day, sometimes read to them, dressed up in a Santa suit and always saw that they were safe and secure in a clean, comfortable environment, center officials said.
Perez’s son Chris and other members of the Perez family joined with San Marcos CISD friends and co-workers to plant a memorial tree on Earth Day on the grounds of the CDC. The youngest members of the district took their turns with the shovel.
