College Football: That's our ball now
When Texas State won the toss and elected to kick last Saturday against Southern Miss, it wasn’t so much a tradition as it was an act of bravado. Even though Bobcat head coach Dennis Franchione extolls the virtues of deferring until the second half, one couldn’t help but think the third-year head coach wanted to see how well his words registered with his defense.
“Coach Fran has been telling us all offseason that we aren’t physical, that we aren’t ready and that we aren’t getting any takeaways,” Texas State junior cornerback Craig Mager said. “We wanted to show out.”
