College Track and Field: State athletes compete on final day of Texas Relays
AUSTIN — Texas State’s track and field team competed in three events in the final day of the Texas Relays Saturday, claiming points in two of the competitions.
Freshman Dasha Tsema finished fourth in the discus with a throw of 47.75 meters. The throw puts her atop the Western Athletic Conference in just her first season for the Bobcats.
Texas State also finished sixth in the premier event of the Relays, the 4x400-meter relay. Freshmen James Hillard, Anthony Johnson, Tyrone Jackson and junior William Murray ran for a sixth place time of 3:10.76.
The mark ranks 25th nationally and tops in the Western Athletic Conference.
For the weekend, the women had four performances that set the team’s new best marks while the men’s 4x400 relay was a new team best.
The Texas State track and field team will return to action this weekend, hosting the Texas State Invitational at the Texas State Track and Field Complex Friday and Saturday.
