Crappie jigs are quite versatile
Last week in my column I wrote about what lures I would choose if I could only pick two. One would be the very versatile plastic worm. The other would be a little crappie jig.
It’s not by accident that in life raft survival kits you will find string and little jigs. A jig will catch any kind of fish — fresh or salt water.
A small white, yellow or chartreuse jig is deadly on crappie. The jig imitates a minnow which is a crappie’s favorite meal. Once crappies are located, often in deeper water, the jig can be bounced up and down right on their noses. Big numbers of crappie can end up in your ice chests using a 15-cent jig.
