Hays recycling, solid waste stations shift operation days
Beginning in early May, the Recycling and Solid Waste Stations operated by Hays County will be closed on Mondays instead of Wednesdays.
The stations will continue to be closed on Sundays and official County holidays.
Clint Garza, who oversees the stations as director of Development and Community Services, said results from more than 170 returned surveys showed most customers would prefer the stations operate Tuesday through Saturday.
The change goes into effect the week of May 5, with the stations being closed Sunday, May 5 and Monday, May 6 and open on Wednesday, May 8. Hours will remain the same, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The county’s two Recycling/Solid Waste Stations are located at 1691 Carney Lane (end of County Road 278) in Wimberley, phone (512) 847-3504 and 100 Darden Hill Road (County Road 162) in Driftwood, phone (512) 858-9515.
More information about what items are accepted at the stations is available by visiting www.co.hays.tx.us and choosing Recycling & Solid Waste from the Living & Visiting dropdown menu.
