High School Football: Snakes drown Drip in season opener
When the San Marcos Rattlers took the field last Friday night, their state of Texas helmet stickers were visibly missing — but they were ready to play in the parking lot with no pads. It didn’t matter to them.
Head coach Mark Soto and his staff have conditioned the Rattlers since the end of last season. Weight room sessions, boot camp and Competitive 101 helped build the framework for the 2013 SMHS football team.
All the offseason preparation paid off for the Rattlers, who beat Dripping Springs in last Friday's season opener by a score of 35-22.
“This win is for these kids,” Soto said. “That’s the most important thing — that these kids taste success, have success and understand what success is.”
