How sweet it is

The San Marcos Rattlers are a shining example of what hard work produces: good things.

Head coach Mark Soto and his staff have conditioned the Rattlers since the end of last season. Weight room sessions, boot camp and Competitive 101 are just a few reason San Marcos was the better team Friday night.

SMHS pushed the Dripping Springs Tigers to their physical limits and came out the other side with a 35-22 win — its first home/season-opening victory since 2005.

Both offense and defense had its moments of glory and worked together, creating turnovers which led to points.

Senior tailback Jonoah Fabian had two rushing touchdowns while senior Zack Sterling added one one the ground and caught another from quarterback Tucker Smith.

San Marcos hosts Victoria East next Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Bobcat Stadium.
