The San Marcos Rattlers placed four players on the All-District 25-5A basketball team, recently released by the district’s coaches.

Netting first-team honors were senior forward Alex Frye and junior guard Josh Coleman, while seniors Michael Hicks Brandon Coleman were second-team selections along with Isaiah Brown.

“Considering how well-balanced and competitive our district was, I’m pleased to see these five players get honored,” SMHS head boys basketball coach David Norris said.

Converse-Judson junior forward Tanner Leissner was named the district’s Most Valuable Player, while Judson sophomore Tony Allen was named the Newcomer of the Year.

Frye finished the season as the Rattlers’ leading scorer and rebounder, posting 13.1 points and 7.9 boards per game. Frye also led the team with 44 blocks.

Josh Coleman was the team’s second-leading scorer, netting 11.3 points per game, and led the team with 72 steals. He also led the team with 4.4 assists per game.

Hicks led the team from outside with 51 3-pointers, while Brandon Coleman averaged 8.8 points and 4.1 rebounds per game, playing mostly as the Rattlers’ sixth-man off the bench.
