HS Golf: Mason, Ferguson tie for third at tourney

CASTROVILLE — Three San Marcos High School golfers competed in the San Antonio-O’Connor Girls Invitational last weekend at The Alsatian Golf Club in Castroville.

A week after tying for first at Lady Rattler Spring Classic, San Marcos senior Mattye Mason and junior Lindsay Ferguson wound up tied for third in the medalist standings with two-round totals of 157. Mason shot 78 and 79, while Ferguson opened the tournament with an 83 before carding 74 on day two.
Mason wound up taking the third-place medal after a scorecard playoff.

O’Connor’s Ana Paredes won the tournament with a two-round score of 153.

Also competing at the tournament for San Marcos was Ashley Robinson who finished with a two-round score of 210.

The SMHS girls are back in action this weekend and the San Antonio-Brackenridge Tournament of Champions.

The SMHS varsity boys open the 2013 spring season this weekend too, competing at the Bastrop ISD Dodson Evans Invitational at Wolfdancer Golf Club.
