HS Soccer: SMHS boys shut out in 25-5A opener

San Marcos High School boys’ soccer team struggled to mount any strong offense in Tuesday night’s District 25-5A opener, suffering a 3-0 loss to Smithson Valley.

SMHS fell to 5-5-2 overall on the season and 0-1 in district play.

“We really had a difficult time piecing passes together on offense and we had a difficult time defending their counter attack,” SMHS head boys’ soccer coach Sean Dickson said.
Despite giving up three goals, Dickson said SMHS goalie Manny Cruz put forth a “valiant” effort.

San Marcos is back in action Friday with a 7:15 p.m. game at New Braunfels.
