Surrounded by her family and loved ones, Juanita Pineda passed peacefully. She was released from her earthly bonds, and escorted by the angels of our Heavenly Father on June 23, 2013 at the golden age of 89. Born Feb. 21, 1924 in Maxwell, she was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Juanita is preceded in death by her loving husband of 32 years Antonio Pineda Sr.; son Antonio Pineda Jr.; parents Cornelio Rodriguez and Juana Santillan, and twin sister Serviana Rodriguez. Juanita loved to sew in. She enjoyed cooking, baking, especially tamales, making holidays very special for her family with love, joy and peace. We can't forget the dog .... BLACKY! Her warmth and smile, we will always cherish and in our hearts, her spirit, will always be with us. We thank God for giving her to us for as long as we had her.
Surviving family are sons Rito Pineda and wife Rosanelly and Martin Pineda, both of Austin and George Pineda of Houston; daughters Victoria Roman and husbnad Isidro of Austin, Servera Pineda of San Marcos, and Irene Pineda of Austin; brother Eustaquio Martinez of El Paso; 22 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be today from 3-7:30 p.m. at Los Angeles Funeral Home, 300 Cheatham St., San Marcos. Recitation of Rosary will be this evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Los Angeles Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Rev. Father Victor Mayorga will officiate. Interment will follow in Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale. Deacon Lalo Duran will officiate.
Serving as pallbearers are Bryant, Tony III, Joe Anthony and Steven Lee Pineda, and Richard and Mark Roman.
