Markham honored with Scouting award
Fred Markham was presented with the National Eagle Scout Association's Outstanding Eagle Scout Award (NOESA) by the Capitol Area Council during the annual Friends of Scouting Luncheon in San Marcos.
The NESA Outstanding Eagle Scout Award is a prestigious recognition granted by the local council's NESA committee to Eagle Scouts who have demonstrated outstanding achievement at the local, state, or regional level.
Markham is the executive director of the Texas Pioneer Foundation, a private, independent foundation located in San Marcos.
A graduate of the University of Arkansas, Markham is an Eagle Scout from Texarkana, Ark. and the Caddo Area Council.
After a 30-year career in banking, he became executive director of the Central Texas Higher Education Authority in 1996 and worked with members of the board of directors to create the Texas Pioneer Foundation in 2004.
