San Marcos native Kay Posey (second from left) received a hearty “thank you” for providing funding that enabled San Marcos American Legion Auxiliary Unit 144 to purchase a new American flag. Accepting the flag at the unit's recent meeting were (left to right) Margie Villalpando, chaplain; Lois Stuart, unit president; and Tao Davis, unit sergeant-at-arms. Posey, a long-time San Marcos CISD art teacher, funded the flag in memory of her parents Eugene “Gene” Ford Posey, a World War I veteran and long-time Hays County commissioner, and Julia Mae Vaughn Posey, a renowned local artist. Both her parents had been active in the San Marcos American Legion and auxiliary during their lifetime.
