Oleta Mae Carnley King
Oleta Mae Carnley King of San Marcos, beloved and cherished mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at the age of 92. She was born in Onley on Sept. 11, 1920, the daughter of the late Guy William and Effie Belle (Jones) Carnley.
In addition to being a skilled seamstress, Oleta was well known for her wonderful cooking, especially her hot rolls, chocolate pies and chili.
She loved going to church and was a “Warrior for Jesus.” She touched many lives and she will be greatly missed by her family, friends and neighbors.
Her husband James T. King; son Mitchell DeWayne Shoemaker; seven brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
She is survived by sons Fred L. Shoemaker of Buda and James Paul King of Carrizo, N.M.; daughters Wynnel S. Wright of San Marcos, Barbara J. Pettit and Sharon E. Kinnaman, both of Cameron and Rebecca L. Dunn of Nogal, N.M.; 28 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends at Pennington Funeral Home, 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 24. Celebration of Life services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 25 at Promiseland Church, 1650 Lime Kiln Road in San Marcos, with Pastor Robin Steele
officiating. Interment will follow in San Marcos City Cemetery.
