Ramiro S. Munguia
Ramiro S. Munguia, a resident of Martindale, was received in the hands of Our Heavenly Father on July 24, 2013 at the age of 84. Born March 13, 1929 in Benavides, he was a beloved father, grandfather, great and great great grandfather, uncle and friend.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years Simona Munguia; step son Jesus Maldonado; parents Pedro and Priscillana Munguia; brothers Emilio, Alfonso, Leopoldo and Pedro Munguia; and sisters Rafaela Castillo, Oralia Canales and Manuela Deault.
Romino honored his family and country serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Our dad worked hard for more than 30 years for the Great Lakes Steel Company as a welder operator before he retired. Returning to Texas, he started working for Gary Job Corps where he finally retired for good. Ramiro was well known for being easygoing but straight forward and getting things done. When he needed to relax, Dad loved to work around the house! Between that, his family! We remember his laughter and warmth and we're happy to have had our Dad for as long as we did and we will miss him dearly. He is not forgotten in our hearts.
Survivors are his daughters Simona Montana and husband Bobby of Prairie Lea; Anita Slater and husband Amos of Punta Gorda, Fl., Rosa Linda Rogers and husband William of Michigan, step son Ismael Maldonado of Detroit Mich., with numerous grandchildren, great, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation was Sunday at Los Angeles Funeral Home and Rosary was recited that evening. Mass of Christian Burial was Monday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Rev. Victor Mayorga officiated. Interment with full military honors followed in Memory Lawn Memorial Park, Martindale.
Serving as pallbearers were immediate family members and friends.
