Rattler boys basketball honored at annual banquet

Members of the San Marcos High School varsity boys basketball program were recently honored at the team’s annual awards banquet.

Senior Alex Frye was named the team’s MVP and leading rebounder, after leading the Rattlers with 13.1 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.

Junior Josh Coleman was the team’s offensive player of the year and leader in assists, scoring 11.3 points 4.4 assists per outing.

Junior Isaiah Brown was named the team’s defensive player of the year after collecting 65 steals last season, while senior Michael Hicks was named the team’s top 3-point shooter after making 59 of 169 attempts.

Senior Brandon Coleman received the team’s sixth-man award after averaging 8.8 points per game off the bench.

Sophomore Jake McGee received the Rattler Pride honor, while senior Anthony Holguin was honored with the Fighting Heart award.

San Marcos finished the 2012-13 season with a 17-15 record overall, while placing third in District 25-5A with a 7-3 mark.

The Rattlers’ season came to an end after a bi-district playoff loss to San Antonio-Reagan.
