Years of fishing, good memories
Fishing and camping are always more fun when family and friends are involved.
Local San Marcos fisherman, Mike Schlimgen, has been enjoying those outdoor pursuits with his Dad and two brothers since the early 1960’s. They made their first camp-fish expedition to Lake Ouachita in Arkansas in 1967.
Since 1984, they have made their annual 10-day May pilgrimage to this lake like Moslems journeying to Mecca. It’s one of Mike’s highlights of his year.
This May, Mike arrived on the Thursday evening before Mother’s Day. Mike sleeps in his tent and his two brothers, Greg and Terry, stay in a small camper. They set up camp in a U.S. Corp of Engineers campground.
This part of Southwest Arkansas is rich in camping opportunities.
