Correction: Incorrect comment period date

An article entitled “Critter Count” that appeared in the Sunday, March 23 edition of the Daily Record contained an incorrect date.

In a March 19 news release, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced the the opening of a public comment period to update information on the status of 28 species that occur in Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. All are protected under the Endangered Species Act and. The reviews ensure the species are accurately classified as threatened or endangered.

In the news release, USFW asked the public to provide any new information concerning the status of these species including biology, habitat, conservation measures, threats, and any other new data or information by July 23. However, the closing date to receive comment is June 18, as stated in the Federal Register notice, not July 23, as was stated in the earlier article.

More information on the official notice can be found on the internet at http://www.fws.gov/policy/library/ . Follow the instructions for submitting comments either electronically or through the mail.
