An article about theft and vandalism at the construction site of the new San Marcos Central Fire Station in Wednesday’s edition contained an error.
The story said that the suspect or suspects had found a backhoe with a key in the ignition and used the machine to break into trailers at the site.
E.B. Hallmark, who owns the backhoe in question, called to clarify that there was not a key left in ignition. Instead, he said the culprits cut a lock off the vehicle.
We regret any misunderstanding or confusion our error caused.
