— It’s always encouraging to see so many residents taking part in the San Marcos River cleanups.
And it’s especially nice to see so many out-of-towners participating in keeping this one-of-a-kind waterway in good condition.
Most of these folks have, at one time or another, spent time in the river and along its banks.
Their fond memories and their realization that this rare gem requires some regular TLC help bring them back to help with these river projects.
The past year has provided many ups and downs for the Edwards Aquifer and the San Marcos Springs from which the river flows.
While Mother Nature has played the major role in this wild ride, these river cleanups are a reminder that the human element remains a crucial player in the river’s health and future.
A tip of the hat to all those who pitched in this past weekend to spruce up the river and keep that relationship strong and positive. RHR
