— Details, questions and explanations about the planned Rio Vista Terrace neighborhood infrastructure improvements project will come into sharp focus Monday.
That’s when city officials and many of the area’s residents will gather to begin one of the most important aspects of this massive project – effective communication.
A capital improvements project which involves new waterlines, new wastewater lines, storm drains, streets, curbs and sidewalks, this project will bring long-deserved modern services to the people of this neighborhood.
Unfortunately, it will also bring inconvenience, irritation and frustration to area homes and businesses which will have to put up with loud machines digging up their streets, a muddy mess here and there and times – hopefully brief – when city services are interrupted so work crews can change out some of the area’s decades-old pipes and roads.
It will be a challenging time for all, but effective communication from both sides can make it less so.
The city is taking the initiative to make sure Rio Vista Terrace is kept in the know about this project.
Residents, too, should make their feelings known during this process.
Surprises are simply not an option if this type of undertaking is to be successful. RHR
