— The recognition by Excelencia in Education of Texas State University’s efforts to attract and graduate Latino students says a great deal about our school on the hill.
It says the leadership of Texas State has a clear focus on not only opening the doors of higher education to the Latino community, but also on following through with the academic and social support necessary to make sure these students become graduates.
Those who may have thought Texas State’s goal of bringing more Latino students into the mainstream of higher education was just a dream.
Much planning, determination and hard work as proven that providing a good education to all Texans is no dream at all.
It is a long-overdue reality on which the future of this state rests. RHR
