Regardless of the issues at hand, the personalities involved or the drama on display, the fact that the city council and former city manager Rick Menchaca have reached some common ground on their legal separation is good news for San Marcos.
That city councils and city managers eventually butt heads, even after the most cordial of honeymoons, is certainly nothing new.

Mix those differences of opinion and style with some home-grown politics ... and the pot can boil over.
Despite the talk, rumors and coffeshop rumblings of what was really behind the recent City Hall brouhaha, chances are it involved good people on both sides of the issues working hard to create a better San Marcos.
As long as that is the case within our city government, this community will always emerge a winner when these dustups finally settle down. RHR
