A tip of the hat to Dan Misiaszek and the other divers of the San Marcos Area Recovery Team for saving yet another life on the San Marcos River.
The team’s rescue of 28-year-old J.R. Campbell from beneath Cumming’s Dam Saturday was not the first time a person has been pulled from beneath the powerful currents.
A young teen’s life was saved by Misiaszek back in 2002 at the same dam.
The SMART team is often called to recover the bodies of those who have lost their lives in area rivers and lakes.
Certainly, bringing someone up from the depths alive and well is the preferred result of the quick and professional response of the SMART team.
Water safety can never be taken for granted.
It’s wonderful to know San Marcos has Dan Misiaszek and SMART when things go terribly wrong along our river. RHR
