Who would have thought some years back that those daredevil skateboarders hurling themselves along downtown sidewalks would eventually inspire the development of the San Marcos Skate Park?
And who would have considered that this endeavor – dismissed by some as a waste of time and money – might be more than just a good recreational idea?
This weekend’s skateboard competition here shows this sport can also be a good economic tool in this community’s efforts to broaden its appeal to visitors.
It’s a good, clean sport which has the potential to roll up some impressive community benefits. RHR
