Hats Off for Hospice raises $20,000

Kyle — The 4th Annual Hats Off For Hospice fundraiser was held at Texas Old Town in Kyle on April 20. This annual fundraiser hosted by CTMC Hospice Care helps to raise proceeds for Dream A Dream, a wish granting program for hospice patients and families.

This year’s event drew approximately 400 people and raised $20,000 with donations still coming.

Items for the live and silent auction included an autographed Dolly Parton cowboy hat, custom made by Texas Hatters in Lockhart and a trip to Ruidoso, New Mexico. Children and families enjoyed barbecue, train rides, hay rides, the moonwalk and music performed by Two Tons of Steel.

Cowboy Honda Kyle, opening in late May, sponsored a drawing for a 2008 Honda Shadow Aero(R) 750. Kevin Geil, guitarist and singer for Two Tons of Steel, pulled the winning ticket. The lucky winner was Robert Nuncio from San Antonio.

“Hats off to our community and business supporters who went above and beyond to help make our 4th annual Hats Off For Hospice so successful,”Lisa Adams, PR Coordinator for CTMC Hospice Care said. “We recently fulfilled a very special wish for a 74 year-old patient with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. She requested a makeover and portrait of her and her husband. When you look at their picture, it shows you how important a simple wish can make someone happy, especially at the end of their life. Next year will be the 5th anniversary for Hats Off. We hope that next year will be even bigger and better!”
